When you are choosing cosmetics, whether it is foundation, eyeshadows or lipstick colours, knowing which skin tone you have makes this process so much easier. There are a few ways to do this, firstly ask yourself which colour suits me better, gold or silver? Do you burn easily in the sun? When you look at the veins on the inside of your wrist are they more of a blue colour or a green colour.
A cool skin tone generally is someone who will burn easily, looks better in silver jewellery and will have a blue tinge to the veins on the inside of their wrist. You might also find foundations have a tendency to go yellow on your skin. When searching for the right foundation you will need to choose foundations with a pink undertone, colours such as pinks, plums, blues, greens and reds with a blue undertone look best on your skin. This is my skin tone, so I generally stick with plums and soft pinks for my lipstick and eyeshadow shades. I also buy foundations with a slight pink to them, so I don't get that orange look that foundations can sometimes give.
A warm skin tone generally tans rather than burns, looks better in gold jewellery and will have a green tinge to the veins on the inside of the wrist. Foundations can turn pink in colour on your skin so it is best to choose shades that have a golden undertone. Colours such as browns, coppers, peach tones, reds with a orange undertone and coral colours look great on warm skin tones.
Neutral skin tones are those people would have skin that is a bit of both. If you have a neutral skin tone most colours will work well on you.
